Nneka IbekweGraduate Associate
Nneka is a PhD candidate in the Human Development and Quantitative Methods division at Penn GSE. Her research applies an ecological framework to better understand risk and resilience in early childhood poverty. Specifically, how protective factors work to promote optimal academic and social emotional development.
She received a bachelor's degree in Sociology and African American Studies and was a NCAA Division I Women’s Volleyball player at the University of California, Davis. After playing professional volleyball in Austria and France, she trained as a Clinical Social Worker at Columbia University and worked as a clinical practitioner in East Los Angeles and New York City. She began her research career as a master's student in Prevention Science Research at Harvard University. After graduating, she remained at Harvard to work as a Manager for the Center for Education Policy Research and as a Graduate Teaching Fellow at Harvard's Graduate School of Education.
She is originally from Los Angeles, California and is very excited to explore Philadelphia with the New College house community.
